♦ No surprise: Moneyball is included in this USA Today article on the “the four best business books by sports professionals” (although does Michael Lewis really qualify as such?).

♦ With all the hoopdeedoo about Aaron Judge breaking the “true” home run record, I doubt there is anyone more qualified to write about Roger Maris than Andy Strasberg. Here’s the latest about the author of My 1961 from the Daily Herald in suburban Chicago. And here’s my Bookshelf Conversation with him from 2012.

♦ A review of The Book of Joe in the Bradenton Times. And a feature on the author, Joe Maddon, here from CBS News in Chicago.

♦  I always thought it a bit incestuous when a newspaper writes about one of it staffers. Be that as it may, here’s a piece on Tyler Kepner, in a New York Times “insider” column (“Times Insider explains who we are and what we do, and delivers behind-the-scenes insights into how our journalism comes together.”) The fact that it comes just as Kepner has published The Grandest Stage is a nice happenstance. Then again, and full disclosure, the New Jersey Jewish News did some pieces on me when my books came out.

♦ Author appearance: Kostya Kennedy (True: The Four Seasons of Jackie Robinson) will participate in The Annual Woman’s Club of Larchmont, Inc. Holiday Book & Author luncheon on Dec. 9. The luncheon will be held at the Orienta Beach Club in Mamaroneck with reception & cocktails at 11:30am and luncheon at 12:15pm. There will be an opportunity to meet the authors and have copies of their books personally autographed. Full details here.
