The holidays start early this year — Hanukka begins Dec. 1 — so the folks over at StrikeThree have compiled this handy list of baseball titles. No reviews, just links to Amazon, but it’s nice to have them all in one place for the sake of convenience.
Speaking of gifts, a few months ago, I wrote about two 2010 titles I would not be buying. One was the (very) limited edition Official Major League Baseball Opus. The full-length version weighs in — literally — at pounds and is a “$3,000 tome that traces the game’s history through 110,000 words and more than 1,000 photographs and illustrations.” The good news: there’s a $295 abridged edition (only 26 pounds). Thanks a lot.
I said the same thing about The Immortals, a book of text and artwork by Dick Perez, that also comes in a few different styles but still for beaucoup bucks, the least expensive of which is $195. Well guess what: I received a copy a few weeks back. Surprise! It is a stunning piece of work by Perez, the official artist of the Baseball Hall of Fame. I was cleaning up in the attic and came across a box of baseball cards, including many of his “Diamond Kings” from various Donruss sets.
Very cool.

Ron,
I’m extremely jealous. I’ve been a big fan of Dick Perez, and I often use his artwork on my blog. How do I get a copy to magically appear at my doorstep????
Kevin G.
I’ll tell you, but it will have to wait a few weeks…
