* Baseball Preview Review: USA TODAY

April 4, 2009

The April 3 edition of USA TODAY included a baseball preview supplement.

A story about baseball team payrolls — represented by a HUGE picture of C.C. Sabathia — was plastered on page one. There’s also a colorful comparison of the two new New York stadiums. I see that the seats are expanding in both ballparks, from 19-22 to 19-24 inches for the Yankees, and from 17 to 19-23 for the Mets, no doubt indicative of the fattening baseball fan. Here’s an idea: keep the seats narrow and make those fans get in shape! Sports Weekly‘s five-man panel predictions are replicated here.

The team profiles include “what’s new,’ “what’s the same,” “USA TODAY predicts”, projected lineups and rotations, schedule, and one “money player,:” whom I will assume is not necessarily the best player, since the selection for the Mets is Luis Castillo.
