I usually don’t get political here (I used to have another blog for that outlet; I really should get back to that one), but yesterday, during the Fauci hearings “Senator Bernie Moreno, an Ohio Republican, demanded to know, using an expletive, who Dr. Fauci thought he was for doing what he did.” That expletive was the F-word, in case you were wondering.
So that reminded me of someone else who liked to throw around expletives: Lenny Dykstra.
Dykstra published not one, but two books, including House of Nails: A Memoir of Life on the Edge in 2016. His other book was simply titled Nails: The Inside Story of an Amazin’ Season, published in 1987 following the Mets’ World Championship the previous season, a time when several players took advantage of their sudden fame. Written with veteran sportswriter Marty Noble, it was shocking for the time for its use of profanities, something he continued in House, which was just as classy as the book cover.Kind of surprised that Stephen King would lend his name to such a project.
