♦   Depending on when you read this, and where you live, your can still take advantage of this: On Monday, October 6, at 5 pm, the New York State Museum in Albany will present John Thorn, the Official Historian of Major League Baseball, for a special evening presentation on baseball’s deep connection with New York City. Details here.

♦   The Reds are out of the post-season, but you can obviously still read about them. Here’s an interview from The Atlanta Voice with Terence Moore, author of the forthcoming My Big Red Machine: The Tales, Drama, And Revelations Of A Fan Turned Journalist Covering Baseball’s Greatest Team. Moore also wrote The Real Hank Aaron: An Intimate Look at the Life and Legacy of the Home Run King.

♦   On Wednesday, October 8, the Baseball Hall of Fame will hold its first Virtual Author Series program of the fall with prolific Montreal Expos historian Danny Gallagher. The author of five Expos books in five years, he will discuss his latest book, Explosion: Genesis to Relocation, 1994 Saga, Contraction, The Dying Days, Moises, Lenny, Schneids and the Expos. ♦   I don’t remember when I started reading Wendy Parker’s terrific Sports Biblio Reader, but in her latest offering she considers the cultural and historical impact of Roger Kahn’s The Boys of Summer.
