Sad news about the passing of Robert Redford, who died this morning at the age of 89. Here’s the obituary from The New York Times.
Of course, for baseball fans, Redford was best remembered for his role as Roy Hobbs in the screen version of The Natural. He also served as the narrator for The Glove, a short film released in 2014.
Redford played baseball in high school and won a scholarship to play at the University of Colorado. He was among the ranks of actors who were very believable in their baseball roles including Kevin Costner Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, For Love of the Game), Dennis Haysbert (Major League, Mr. Baseball), and Tom Selleck (Mr. Baseball).
