Sports Collectors Digest ran a series on the artists who drew on the cartoons on the backs of Topps cards back in the day. Fun stuff. Part one here. Part two here.

FWIW, I was able to read this review of Jane Levy’s New Make Me Commissioner in The Wall Street Journal, but that doesn’t mean you can, since they keep changing their paywall. (It also showed up on MSN.com.) Same deal applies to this one in the San Francisco Chronicle. And here’s one from the Sports Business Journal.
Meanwhile here is a review about an oldie but goodie from AZSnakepit.com — a Diamondbacks-centric site — on Buzz Bussinger’s Three Nights in August: Strategy, Heartbreak, and Joy Inside the Mind of a Manager.
Never been much of a gamer, but here’s my contribution to the community: from Comicbook.com, “Why Super Mega Baseball Is a Better Series Than MLB The Show.” Have fun.

If you happen to be in Newton, CT, this month, drop by the C.H. Booth Library to see Dr. George Dutchick’s collection of old gloves.
I’m sure by now you’ve seen the video of “Philadelphia Karen” haranguing a dad to give up a baseball he “stole” from her. It’s right up there with the couple having an affair who were caught on a “kiss cam” and the CEO who grabbed a hat from a kid at a U.S. Open event. According to this story from The Independent (“Trent Krimm” alert) Blowart Cards is offering the woman $5,000 for the ball, but only if she writes “I’m Sorry” on it. I mean, why not? I would probably not want to keep something that reminded me of my bad behavior, but who knows; maybe she’s proud of her actions.
