I guess I’m going into my second (or is it third? Fourth?) childhood. Been visiting eBay looking for various baseball cards sets, primarily Topps Heritage which recreates old set designs with contemporary players such as this one which hearkens back to the 1972 series.

So what a coincidence to come across this article — “Best Books for Baseball Card Collectors” — by Lucas Mast on the Sports Illustrated Collectibles page. His titles include:
- The Wax Pack: On the Open Road in Search of Baseball’s Afterlife by Brad Balukjian
- Baseball & Bubble Gum: The 1952 Topps Collection by Tom and Ellen Zappala
- Card Sharks: How Upper Deck Turned a Child’s Hobby into a High-Stakes, Billion-Dollar Business by Pete Williams
- The Bubble Gum Card War: The Great Bowman & Topps Sets from 1948-1955 by Dean Hanley
- Cramer’s Choice: Memoir of a Baseball Card Collector Turned Manufacturer by Mike Cramer
- Mint Condition: How Baseball Cards Became an American Obsession by Dave Jamieson
One glaring omission, IMO? The Great American Baseball Card Flipping, Trading and Bubble Gum Book, by Brendan Boyd and Fred Harris.
