See here for a headnote and explanation.
Back to earth, so to speak and with all due respect.
#32: Jordan Montgomery
Has been around since breaking in with the Yankees in 2017, joining the Cardinals in a trade late last year.
#33: Kyle Farmer
“Kyle batted .394 across a 29-game stretch from mid-May to mid-June to pull out of an early fun.” Must have been some funk because he ended up at .255. As much as batting average has been getting a reduced representation of a hitter abilities in recent years, it’s still a high topic of conversation.
#34: Zack Thompson
Made his debut last year and appeared in 22 games, once again raising the question, “what does it take for a player to get on his first card?”
#35: CJ Abrams
A “Future Star,” emphasized by the little star in the left hand corner in case you didn’t get it. Abrams came over from the Padres in the Juan Soto deal last year.
#36: Brandon Lowe
After a career-best season in 2021 (39 homers, 99 RBI after several years as a part-time player), Lowe was, as the saying goes, “beset by injuries” last year to account for the drastic decline.
