As we celebrate Martin Luther King Day, this from Movieguide on the best movies to watch to mark the occasion, including the Jackie Robinson biopic, 42. Here are a few entries I posted back around the time it came out:
“The Baseball” tops the list of “Calvin and Hobbes: Calvin’s 10 Best Enemies,” as per ScreenRant. C&H was one of the strips that could made me laugh out loud, which was somewhat embarrassing when reading collections in Barnes and Noble.
It’s no secret that Calvin doesn’t like baseball that much, which is why he changes the rules to his liking. But the sport also has spawned a deadly enemy in the form of a monster baseball.
When playing baseball, sometimes the ball sprouts teeth and tries to chomp on Calvin, leading him to take several measures to run away and defend himself. Unfortunately, not even Hobbes believes him when he tells him that the ball attacks him. Luckily for Calvin, the times in which the baseball turns into a monster are limited, making it usually safe for him to play the game in his own special way.
Grunge.com looks “Inside The Ugliest Brawl In Major League Baseball History,” as portrayed in John Rosengren’s 2014 book, The Fight of Their Lives.
