Zack attack

October 31, 2022

One of the things — great or not — about the Internet is the lack of limits on space (for the most part).

When writing for a newspapers or magazine (less so in books), you have to be aware of the limited “geography.” That is, there is only so much room available for the story, what with advertisements and all. So you may be limited to, let’s say 400 words or maybe 750 or 1,000.

But online? Not such a problem. And because you have to fill that space somehow, you get all sorts of stuff that would never have seen the light of day twenty or thirty years ago. And now, with a movie camera on your phone, add videos to that list (since a lot of people can’t be bothered to actually read).

So here we have a documentary about Zack Hample, a guy whose claim to fame is that he has collected more foul balls than anyone else. He turned that talent in How to Snag Major League Baseballs: More Than 100 Tested Tips That Really Work, which led to further publishing opportunities (Watching Baseball Smarter: A Professional Fan’s Guide for Beginners, Semi-experts, and Deeply Serious Geeks and The Baseball: Stunts, Scandals, and Secrets Beneath the Stitches).

From BookandFilmGlobe.com, this review on Zack Hample vs. the World.
