Lest we forget: Lou Brock

September 8, 2020

We lost another Hall of Famer with the passing of Lou Brock.

In addition to being the stolen base king before Rickey Henderson took the title, Brock was involved in what has usually been considered one of the top ten controversial trades of all time, coming over from the Chicago Cubs for Ernie Broglio.

Here is Brock’s obituary from The New York Times by Richard Goldstein.

I saw someplace — don’t know whether it’s true — that Brock faced the late Tom Seaver more than any other pitcher and vice versa.

Brock published Stealing is My Game with Franz Schulze in 1976.
