A belated happy 100th to Jackie Robinson

February 19, 2019

I don’t know how I missed this.

Robinson would have been 100 years old on January 31.

The Museum of the City of New York recently launched an exhibit titled “In the Dugout with Jackie Robinson: An Intimate Portrait of a Baseball Legend.” And a brand new JR Museum — also located in New York City — opens this year.

But as I was readying the newspapers for tomorrow’s recycling pick-up, I can across “42 at 100,” a 24-page special section published on Jan. 31 by The New York Times. Claire Smith and George Vecsey provide the narrative, which is supplemented by stories and photos from the Times‘ archives.
