Between the 30th anniversary of the 1986 World Championship and the afterglow of last year’s appearance in the Fall Classic, Mets fans will have a (Citi) field day as not one, not two, but… more… books about their team hits the shelves.
Should have mentioned it earlier so I’ll start off with this: Greg Prince, author of Amazin’ Again: How the 2015 New York Mets Brought the Magic Back to Queens, will be at the Bergino Baseball Clubhouse tonight at 7 p.m.
On April 5, Erik Sherman will be at Bergino to speak about his new book, Kings of Queens: Life Beyond Baseball with ’86 Mets.
In addition, we will be graced with:
- Mets by the Numbers: A Complete Team History of the Amazin’ Mets by Uniform Numbers, a revised edition by Jon Springer with Matthew Silverman
- Game 7, 1986: Failure and Triumph in the Biggest Game of My Life, by Ron Darling and Daniel Paisner
- A re-issue (apparently not an update) of Amazin’: The Miraculous History of New York’s Most Beloved Baseball Team, by Peter Golenbock
- One-Year Dynasty: Inside the Rise and Fall of the 1986 Mets, Baseball’s Impossible One-and-Done Champions, by Silverman
The 1986 New York Mets: There Was More Than Game Six (SABR Digital Library), edited by Leslie Heaphy and Bill Nowlin
That should keep you guys happy for awhile.
