Is this a book we really need?

Whatever happened to this locker room (and cultural) philosophy?

Rumor’s out that “Former clubhouse manager Charlie Samuels has been shopping a book to publishers, and it’s sure to air some dirty laundry.” (ESPN story)

Samuels, who worked for the Mets from 1976-2010, was convicted of stealing $2.3 million worth of memorabilia from the club.

$2.3 million! What the hell  did the Mets have that could be worth that much? I’m guessing you can’t grab all that in one shot.

Samuels received five years probation and has “struggled” since the Mets fired him. No wonder he wants a book deal. I can think of few things sadder; players count on the loyalty — not to mention confidentiality — of those with whom they work closely behind the scenes.

So do you think he’ll start pointing fingers as to who used PEDs? Who were the biggest prima donnas? Sadly, inquiring minds want to know.
