I wanted to bring your attention to two authors who have pledged portions of their book sales towards helping worthy causes.
* James Bailey, author of the baseball novel, The Greatest Show on Dirt, is teaming up with Books For Troops, Inc., a volunteer group that sends care packages of books to soldiers stationed in Afghanistan. The organization was started by Ellen Keegan, a retired school teacher in Clifton Park, NY, to provide a variety of books to soldiers to help ease their fears, loneliness, boredom, and stress, and to allow them a temporary respite from the stresses of their daily lives.
Bailey has pledged $1 to Books For Troops for every copy of The Greatest Show on Dirt sold in July, both physical and electronic versions.
* Frank Nappi, the author of The Legend of Mickey Tussler and Sophomore Campaign, is donating part of the proceeds from his books to Best Buddies International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
