Hot stove reading list: Aerys Sports

Now that we’re headed into the cold dark days, it’s time to cozy up with some baseball reading. This serves a few purposes. For one thing, it keeps your mind on the game. Secondly, with all this time, you can branch out and pick up a few titles you either didn’t have time for it or it was out of your “comfort zone.” Think of it as trying a new cuisine or wine.

In addition, as we get closer to the end of the calendar, columnists and other writers put out their lists of “bests,” like this one from Julie DiCaro, founder of Aerys Sports, a web presence dedicated to offering ‘the best and brightest independent women sportswriters to my own online sports network. Today, AerysSports is proud to launch over 70 individual team websites, all headed up and written by women. Of course, we love sports fans of all genders, and we hope Aerys Sports will become a vibrant community of fans; a place to learn a little, laugh a lot, and love our favorite teams, regardless of how many “X” chromosomes you may have.”

It’s interesting to note that only one of these authors is a woman. What, no Jean Ardell? No Elinor Nauer? Rebecca Alter? Dorothy Mills?
