- Fenway West, a Red Sox (duh)-centric blog, posted this review of Jonah Keri’s The Extra 2%. Upshot: “Move over Moneyball, there is a new addition to the business of baseball library.” There’s also a feature on Keri and the book’s research on TampaBay.com.
- The Jewish Press published a review of an unusual kids’ book: A pictorial rendering of Lipman Pike, the first Jewish professional ballplayer as well as the game’s first home run “king.” I imagine the review contains more words than the book itself.
- Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch wrote this profile on Bill James, the father of Sabermetrics.
- Although perhaps a bit biased, this piece on Chronicle Books’ new Baseball Scorekeeper is pretty cool. Zack Hample worked on the text.
