Literary birthday greetings, Dave Dravecky

Dave Dravecky, who bravely fought a battle against cancer that eventually ended his playing career, turns 55 today. He has written several books, both about his life on the field and his string faith, including Comeback and the even sadder When You Can’t Come Back. Of course, you would never hear him complain because it’s all part of the plan his creator has for him. Subsequent books include Called Up: Stories of Life and Faith from the Great Game of Baseball and Do Not Lose Heart: Meditations of Encouragement and Comfort. And as could be expected, Dravecky’s story is inspiration to younger readers as well (Dave Dravecky: He Had Made It to the Big Leagues, but Then the Doctor Gave Him the Bad News, A Boy and His Baseball (The Dave Dravecky Story), etc.)
