Today is BBA Day

December 10, 2010

Don’t look for it on you calendar, but today is Baseball Blogger Alliance Day.

BBA is a group of bloggers — some 230 or so — who banded together, as it were, in 2009.  There’s at least one blogger per Major league team except, inexplicably, the Atlanta Braves (although that might have changed by the time you read this; the Mets, by the way, have the largest representation with 19). There are also chapters covering general baseball in the majors, minors, and independent leagues;  baseball history; and fantasy baseball. I happen to preside over the “miscellaneous chapter,” which encompasses everything baseball that doesn’t fit in the other chapters (baseball books, parody sites, etc.).

The group offers its own collective opinion on major awards, such as MVP, Cy Young, ROY, etc. Many of the members host podcasts and or radio programs.

The purpose of BBA Day is to raise awareness of the organization, both among bloggers and those that enjoy reading baseball on the internet.

For more information, visit the BBA site.
