Anyone else surprised that “Little General” was Johnny Bench‘s nickname?

In addition, Bo Belinsky was born this date in1936. He collaborated with the late Maury Allen on his 1973 auto/memoir, Bo: Pitching and Wooing. Belinsky became an insta-celeb when he pitched ano-hitter in his rookie season for the then-Los Angeles Angels. He also married a Playboy centerfold, which added to his “playboy” status. Belinsky was immortalized in the lyrics of  “Oh, Boy,” an Allan Sherman song.
