One of the highlights of one of the country’s great literary festivals, San Francisco’s Litquake, will feature “It’s All Over But the Crying: A Night of Authors on Sports,” at 7 p.m. Friday Oct. 8, at Hemlock Tavern, 1131 Polk Street, San Francisco. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Admission is $10 in advance at brownpapertickets.com.
The panel includes:
- Jason Turbow, author of The Baseball Codes: Beanballs, Sign-Stealing and Bench-Clearing Brawls: The Unwritten Rules of America’s Pastime (Random House)
- Dan Fost, author of Giants Past & Present (MVP Books)
- Dan Epstein, author of Big Hair and Plastic Grass: A Funky Ride Through Baseball and America in the Swinging ’70s (Thomas Dunne/St. Martin’s).
- Howard Bryant, author of The Last Hero: A Life of Henry Aaron.
The event features a special multimedia presentation by Bay Area sports photographer Michael “Z Man” Zagaris, currently the team photographer for the Oakland Athletics. Book sales and signing to follow.
