Celebrating today are Hall of Famers Carl Yastrzemski (71), Paul Molitor (54), and Ned Hanlon.
“Yaz” has several titles associated with his name, including Yastrzemski (Icons of Major League Baseball)
; Yaz: Baseball, the Wall, and Me
; and Batting
(1972, with Al Hirshberg). He’s also an integral piece of any book written about the 1967 “Impossible Dream” team.
More than a few question the inclusion of Molitor into baseball’s Olympus since so much of his body of work came as a designated hitter. His go-to title is Stuart Broomer’s Paul Molitor: Good Timing: The Paul Molitor Story, published by ECW in 1994.
Finally, Hanlon, born i857, is included in numerous titles about the beginnings of the game as well as Irish ballplayers.

From William Miller via Facebook:
“Yaz had a very distinctive batting stance that I tried to copy when I was a kid. Never worked for me, but served him well.”
