* Bits and pieces

March 25, 2010

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY behind here, so in an attempt to catch up, and let you all know I’m still here, I submit, for starters, a list of recent items:

  • Our old friend Zack Hample is busy with his own writings (note to self: get cracking on the manuscript), but he has had time to glance through a couple of new books.
  • Moneyball, The Film Project” may be stalled, but according to this piece in USA Today, Michael Lewis might be at work on a sequel to his classic book.
  • A new look at an old favorite: Sam Walker’s Fantasyland, courtesy of Fantasybaseball.fanhouse.com. And a movie version? Why not? It’s brought to you by Snagfilms.com, which also presented the premier of Holy Land Hardball.
  • This reference to Megan Fox is not gratuitous. Seems Edward Achorn, author of Fifty-Nine in ’84, a biography about Hoss Radbourn, would like to see her in the film version of his new release.
  • James Bailey contributed this review of The Man with Two Arms to Baseball America.
  • The shoe is on the other foot, in this announcement of Our White Boy.
  • Speaking about Moneyball, The Movie, how about a remake of Damn Yankees, starring Jim Carey as Mr. Applegate and Jake Gyllenhaal as Joe Hardy?
  • Brickbender.com presents this Q&A with Will Leitch, author of the forthcoming Are We Winning: Fathers and Son in the New Golden Age of Baseball.
