- According to CantonRep.com, the Kent State Univ. Press will reprint a “facsimile edition” of Fred Lieb and Stan Baumgartner’s 1953 team history of the Phillies, which was part of a series of baseball club histories published by G.P. Putnam. Several years ago, the Southern Illinois University Press was handling this project, reissuing books about the Red Sox, Cubs, Yankees, Giants, Cardinals, and Pirates.
- Scott Simkus, the Bill James “Strat-O-Matic Negro League All-Stars”? Slate’s “Sports Nut” column also address the topic — finally — of how Satchel Paige and other Negro Leaguers might have done against Babe Ruth and other Major Leaguers.
- Since MTV is no longer all about the music, it shouldn’t be surprising that they turn their attention (deficit) to the meshing of baseball and comics.

- The Star-Ledger ran this triple-decker on The First Fall Classic, Game Six, and Sixty Feet Six Inches.
- Tom Verducci is the subject of the latest episode of “Inside Sports Illustrated,” a series of interviews conducted by the publication to introduced their writers to their readers. I know times are tough, but I’m sure they could find a venue that doesn’t male these things sound like they were recorded in a bathroom. No link, but you can download it on iTunes.
