March 21, 2009

The Albion District Library is proud to welcome author Tom Stanton on Sunday, March 22, at 2 p.m. in support of the “Pride & Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience” traveling exhibition, which has stopped in Albion for six weeks as part of its three-year national tour. Mr. Stanton, the 2008 winner of the Michigan Author Award and writer of a Baseball Book of the Year, will discuss Hank Aaron and his push for Babe Ruth’s Record.

“Pride & Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience” traveling exhibition was organized by the American Library Association and the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH): Great Ideas Brought to Life. It is based on an exhibit of the same name on permanent display at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.

This speaker event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments provided.

The Albion District Library is located at 501 S. Superior Street in downtown Albion. For more information, please call 517-629-3993 or visit http://pridepassion.albionlibrary.org
