Yes, Randolph was the leader of a bunch of underachievers, but almost everyone agrees that the way in which his dismissal was handled was, to put it plainly, not nice.
Baseball managers are not monarchs; they don’t ascend to the throne and hold onto their jobs forever (although some do abdicate).
