* Of course, of course: Mr. Ed tries out

June 20, 2008

The video version of an old joke.

In this show, titled “Leo Durocher Meets Mister Ed,” the horse, a staunch L.A. Dodger fan, spots a few batting weaknesses among the line-up while watching one of their televised games.

The episode was aired as the opener for the fourth season (Sept. 29, 1963) and features — in addition to Durocher — Sandy Koufax, Moose Skowron {“Did you see that?”), Willie Davis (“I don’t believe it.”) and Johnny Roseboro, who hilariously climbs the batting cage to avoid the sliding equine.

I wonder how much the players were paid for this (speaking parts pay more) and whether they enjoyed their participation. Hey, that’s life in Hollywood, baby.

Thanks so much for posting this video. One of my all time favorite Mr. Ed episodes and this is the best scene.
