Greatest sports book of '07? One man's opinion

January 11, 2008

And not this one. Mind you, The Stark Truth was definitely interesting and thought-provoking, but the best? anyway, Tom Morgan of the Connecticut-based Voices newspaper chain thinks so.

Oh wow, no sir! I loved the book, see here, but it wasn’t the best sports book of the year, nor the decade as he implies. I thought Crazy ’08 and The Baseball Economist were both better. Stark’s book definitely drove debate and brought up some great cases for and against players and their places in history, but I don’t think it was enough to earn Sports Book of the Year.

At any rate, Morgan is entitled his opinion, but I’m curious to know how many sports books he read in 2007 in order to ensure he was giving an accurate judgment of the year’s offerings.
