October 11, 2022

Please note that I have not read every book mentioned in these B&P’s. Just passing along information as I find it.

♦ I love me a good speculative fiction and I’ve often wondered how long pro baseball will be around. The Death and Resurrection of Baseball seeks to respond to that idea as per this piece from the Shaw Local News Network in northern Illinois.

♦  From The New York Times, this excerpt from their own Tyler Kepner’s newest, The Grandest Stage: A History of the World Series, which officially releases today. Sadly, there will not be any lower-tier Met on the list of any potential 2022 entry.

♦  If some coffee franchise were smart, they would host a “Book of Joe with a Cup of Joe” event. But please bear in mind: Don’t confuse the new The Book of Joe: Trying Not to Suck at Baseball and Life, written by Joe Maddon and Tom Verducci with the 2018 publication Try Not to Suck: The Exceptional, Extraordinary Baseball Life of Joe Maddon by Bill Chastain and Jesse Rogers.

.

♦  By the way, Maddon and Verducci will host a podcast based on the book , at least while Maddon is waiting for his next managing opportunity.
