Gelf Magazine’s presents ‘Varsity Letters: Baseball Night’

August 1, 2017

Well, I can cross that off my bucket list. I’ve wanted to take part in this program ever since I published my first book but things never quite worked out. In fact, I was originally supposed to join Richard Sandomir last month to talk about two iconic first basemen with New York roots but couldn’t get the time off from my new job. So I was really pleased when they offered me a second chance.

Joining me on the July 24 program were (photos are left to right, top to bottom)

Sports Illustrated writer Jay Jaffe, author of The Cooperstown Casebook: Who’s in the Baseball Hall of Fame, Who Should Be In, and Who Should Pack Their Plaques

• MLB.com executive reporter Mark Feinsand, author of The New York Yankees Fans’ Bucket List

• Faith and Fear in Flushing blogger Greg Prince, author of Piazza: Catcher, Slugger, Icon, Star

Mark Feisand

So here are the proceedings. Part one includes Feinsand and Jaffe. Part two is me followed by Prince. Apologies for the audio, especially towards the end when the music from the upstairs portion of Le Poisson Rouge starts to intrude. Also, my iMovie skilzzzz are a bit weak, which reflects in the Youtube presentations. I’ll be working on that, too.
