Former Red Sox skipper Terry Francona’s self-named memoir debuts on the NY Times‘ Best Seller list at number 2.
Gregory Cowles included it in the print edition of the Sunday Book Review’s “TBR: Inside the List” column. Unfortunately, it’s not on-line as of this writing so you’re own your own, since it’s too long for me to retype. A brief excerpt: Francona “has made news lately thanks to the scorched-earth memoir he’s written….”
Frankly, as entertaining as I found the book (see my review on Bookreporter here), I didn’t think it took a “scorched earth” approach. It’s certainly more measured than some of the other screeds out there and kudos to Francona and co-author Dan Shaughnessy for taking the high road rather than falling into the gutter to excoriate the Red Sox front office for the way they handled things.
