For your viewing pleasure: Sports Illustrated‘s magazine show

July 24, 2012

Another sports magazine show? Well, when you carry the SI imprimatur, people will pay attention.

The monthly offering premieres tonight on the NBC Sports Network. One of the four segments:

The Bundy Project: The development of prized Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Dylan Bundy is quite extraordinary. He squats 500 lbs. throws a 100-mph fastball, drinks broccoli-and-barley smoothies… while under the watch of pitching guru Rick Peterson. Sports Illustrated Senior Writer Tom Verducci reports.

On the promo piece, Verducci notes that “Dylan Bundy is 19 years old and can throw the ball at 100 MPH fastball. But what does that mean?” Uh, it means he’s 19 years old and can throw the ball at 100 miles an hour.  What else is there?

What does any of it mean, anyway? Sorry, didn’t mean to get all nihilistic there.
