New Yorker, New Yorker

June 26, 2012

It’s a wonderful magazine, especially when it comes to its baseball writing.

And now that they’ve added “The Sporting Scene,” a blog component, fans don’t have to wait as long for pieces by Roger Angel, who published this piece about R.A. Dickey. Granted, it’s not as in-depth as his usual semi-annual essays, but half an Angel is better than none. (Hmm. This was posted on June 19, the day after his second straight one hitter. In his next game, he hot (relatively) shelled by the Yankees on June 24. is this the “New Yorker Curse”?)

The New Yorker also offered a piece by Ben McGrath on the outcome of the Roger Clemens trial.

And just to put an end to the thought, Forbes Magazine posted this item about how much more an R.A. Dickey start means to the Mets’ coffers. Hey, $100K here and $100K there, and pretty soon you’re talking about real money.
