The beginning of the end?

November 21, 2011

The old joke goes, “You can’t have everything. Where would you put it?”

That’s kind of the way I’ve come to think about my library. Obviously there’s no way I can acquire every book I’d like, plus the ones I do have, gathered over 30 years, are starting to make a dent in the floor.

So it is with great reluctance that I have decided to start culling. The problem is, what to do with them? I’d like them to have a good “home” but local library space is limited and other sources are difficult to come by.

Fortunately I have made an arrangement with the Yogi Berra Museum to take about 100 Yankees, Dodgers, and Giants titles for a book sale they’ll be hosting on Dec. 10 & 11, from noon to 5 p.m. Check out their website for more information.

This also means I’ll have to update my Library Thing data. Great; more busy work.

Actually, getting rid of some of this stuff is kind of cleansing. And goodness knows, there’s still a lot to keep me company.
