Literary birthday greetings: Yogi

The Yankee legend turns 86 today.

You can’t have a baseball book about the Yankees post-war dynasty without Berra, who happens to be a nominal neighbor of mine in that we live in the same New Jersey town.

One of his books is titled The Yogi Book: “I Really Didn’t Say Everything I Said. “ You could also say he didn’t really write everything he wrote, at least not by himself. There are numerous books that carry his name as the author, mostly humorous collections of his famous witticisms. Many were co-authored or ghost-written or “told to” (or whatever thr proper terminology is) Dave Kaplan, who serves as executive director of the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center in Little Falls, NJ on the campus of Montclair State University, which frequently hosts author events (next one: Ian O’Connor, who just released a new bio on Derek Jeter, on Thursday, May 26).
