Baseball fans: The Next Generation

February 14, 2008

With all the falderol about steroids, congressional hearings, etc., it’s easy to forget the impact this all will have on future generations of fans. Of course, according to the late Tug McGraw’s frozen snowball theory

“Astronomers have estimated that in something like 50 million years, our sun will burn out and then the Earth will freeze up and drift through space like a giant frozen snowball,” McGraw said. “Now, when that happens, who’s going to remember if I struck out Willie Stargell with the bases loaded or he hit a homer off me?”

will anyone even care a hundred years from now?

Nevertheless, here’s an opinion from The Badger Herald, the college newspaper of the University if Wisconsin-Madison.
