Belatedly, to Red Schoendienst, a baseball “lifer” since 1945. Schoendienst, who played for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants, and Milwaukee  Braves, suffered a bout of tuberculosis as a player back in 1958 while with Milwaukee.
