National Pastime Radio covers the postseason

The Brian Lehrer Show conducted this great interview with former Mets pitcher and current TV broadcaster Ron Darling. Despite a number of sports media writers criticizing the way FOX handled its coverage, Darling would not pile on. But I appreciated his honesty as he spoke about the disappointment for himself and his booth-mates Keith Hernandez and Gary Cohen in not getting a chance to carry on their good work before a national stage.

One of my favorite podcasts — Pop Culture Happy Hour — closes the show with a segment called “What’s Making Me Happy” in which the panelists pass along one or two of their favorite things. Finally, taking a little liberty here since this isn’t an NPR product, but Sarah D. Bunting, a regular on my favorite favorite podcast, Extra Hot Great, talked up this two-and-a-half-hour YouTube video of another Mets broadcasting legend, the late Ralph Kiner, who had his share on on-air flubs. You’re welcome. (By the way, look for Down on the Korner: Ralph Kiner and Kiner’s Korner, by Mark Rosenman, next February.)
