Because you can put stickers on your bookshelf

September 4, 2015

If you’re nine.

Seriously, I ruined a great desk because I put some of those Fleer logo stickers on it and could never get them off cleanly.

I was reminded of this thanks to a post on Yahoo sports by Chris Cwik featuring “every MLB team’s logo changes through the years in one GIF.” Pretty cool. Kudos to the compiler.

One complaint about posting this in gif form (as opposed to, say, a video) is that you can’t pause it for slower examination. It took me a couple of go-arounds to figure out the presentation lists the teams in current alphabetical order, hence the gaps. For example, although the National League Braves debuted in Boston, they’re now in Atlanta and the blank space to the left won’t be filled in until the Arizona Diamondbacks join the Majors in 1998. You can see the expansion teams  crowding the board once we get into the 1960s.
