Now hear this

For a limited time, you can get a three-month subscription to Audible.com’s “gold plan” for $5.95, plus tax. Sine you get one book month under this plan, that works out to about $2 per title for some great “readening” (reading + listening).

Here’s a link to the roughly 200 baseball titles currently available on the site; samples are available so you can “try before you buy.”

Me, I go for the unabridged versions. I think that’s the best value, and why wouldn’t you want the whole thing, anyway? On the clip side, I think there should be a special two-fer for the shorter pieces, like NPR programs; they should count as highly as full-fledged books. Just sayin’, Audible.

I also have a fondness for books read by the author. After all, who better to know what the work should sound like?  For example, John Feinstein (Where Nobody Knows Your Name) and Dan Barry (Bottom of the 33rd) are the narrators for their own creations.
