It’s a win-win situation: I get to de-clutter the house and please the missus and some luck follower of RKBB gets a free book.
Here are the rules:
- The fifth person to post a comment on the site (not Facebook) wins. Only related to the overall scope of the blog, please; no “My team’s great, your team sucks” nonsense.
- If you’ve won a book in the last three months — and you’ll know who you are — you can’t win again. That doesn’t mean you can’t comment, though. Please do.
- I would appreciate the winners taking a picture of him- or herself with their giftee so I can post it on the blog.
- That’s it. Simple enough, no?
This week’s book is the newly-released paperback edition of Tom Clavin’s The DiMaggios: Three Brothers, Their Passion for Baseball, Their Pursuit of the American Dream.
Have at it.

Have you read this one, Ron? If so, what were your thoughts?

I started it and got about 1/3 through. Quite interesting, just got sidetracked. I like Clavin’s previous work.
Did any of the Dimaggio’s have children who played professional baseball?
Looks like a terrific baseball book. Love to read about the other DiMaggio men.
I asked a colleague to name three brothers who have played in MLB – did not guess DiMaggios.Only got two – Neikros and Alous. I think that there were three Alous playing at once.
so close to getting the fifth comment. At least this will be helping somebody get the book. Love the site and hoping somebody enjoys this one.
There were only two Niekro brothers, Phil and Joe, that played in the MLB. Lance Niekro is Joe’s son. Other three (or more) brother combos are the Molinas (Bengie, Jose and Yadier ), Drews (J.D., Stephen, and Tim), Boyers (Cloyd, Ken, and Clete), and the Delahanty brothers (Ed, Frank, Jim, Joe, and Tom).
