A Rudy moment and a real collector’s item

October 18, 2013

The Cardboard Connection ran this story about Teddy Kremer, a 30-year-old with Down syndrome, whose love for the Cincinnati Reds is apparently as big as his heart.

Kremer had the opportunity to serve as honorary bat boy for the Reds, was asked to return, and had a hand in this special moment for Todd Frazier on April 18 against the Miami Marlins.

And the back story:

(Especially around the 8:15 mark. Although I could do without the pre-story roundtable moment where they ESPN guys are patting themselves on the back for how good a job they’re doing with this. Also distracting: the poorly placed closed-captioning.)

Topps has commemorated Kremer’s stint with the Reds with a card in their 2013 Update series.
