Authors appearance: Mick Cochrane and Michael Joyce

October 15, 2013

Novelists Mick Cochrane and Michael Joyce will be the featured speakers at the Larkin Square Author Series, discussing the links between writing and sports. The program will be held at Filling Station Restaurant at Larkin Square, 745 Seneca St. Buffalo, NY, from 5-6:30 p.m.

From the Buffalo News announcement:

The two baseball-related novels written by Cochrane are Sport, about a boy with a passion for baseball who struggles to fit in, and The Girl Who Threw Butterflies, a young adult novel about a 13-year-old girl who copes with her father’s death by learning baseball’s most difficult pitch, the knuckleball.

The main character of Joyce’s novel Going the Distance [published earlier this year] is a washed-up baseball player.
