Fulfilling your civic duty by serving on a jury certainly has its ups and downs. Suffice it to say I am on a case, the details of which I cannot reveal at this point, and will be shuttling back and forth to the courts for the foreseeable future. The “good news”: the schedule is such that no proceedings are held on Mondays and, I believe, Fridays, although that might just be a rumor and based on the fact that we’re off today.
During the frequent breaks, I busy myself by coming up with mnemonics for the projected starting lineups for the Major league teams, as published in The Sporting News baseball annual. As an example:
Boston Red Sox
DRums NaPs = SS Drew, 3B Middlebrooks, 1B Napoli, and 2B Pedroia
GEValt! – LF Gomes, CF Ellsbury, and RF Victorino
SO? = C Saltalamacchia and DH Ortiz
LaB analysts missing Dunkin Donuts (Lacking) = starting pitchers (in projected rotation order) Lester, Buccholz, Dubront, Demster, and Lackey
I can tell you’re impressed.
So far I’ve got the AL East and Central divisions down pat and some of the West. I figure to have it all done by the time the trial ends.
Whatever works for you, right?
