Hall of Fame announces 2012 Authors Series program

The story of baseball is told every day at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. But this summer, some of the latest unique and inspirational stories of the National Pastime will be celebrated through the Museum’s Authors Series program.

The Hall of Fame will host seven Authors Series events throughout the summer, bringing noted baseball authors to Cooperstown for special lectures and book signings. The Authors Series programs are held in the Museum’s Bullpen Theater at 1 p.m. (except where noted) and are included with Museum admission.

The schedule for the summer includes:

June 19 – Johnny Antonelli: A Baseball Memoir, by Scott Pitoniak and Johnny Antonelli

July 3 – Bill Veeck: Baseball’s Greatest Maverick, by Paul Dickson

July 10 – Pinstripe Empire: The New York Yankees from Before the Babe to After the Boss, by Marty Appel

July 20 – Rick Ferrell, Knuckleball Catcher: A Hall of Famer’s Life Behind the Plate and in the Front Office, by Kerrie Ferrell (2 p.m.)

July 24 – Banzai Babe Ruth: Baseball, Espionage, and Assassination during the 1934 Tour of Japan, by Rob Fitts

August 14 – Fenway Park:The Centennial: 100 Years of Red Sox Baseball, by Saul Wisnia

August 28 ­– Fenway Park: A Salute to the Coolest, Cruelest, Longest-Running Major League Baseball Stadium in America, by John Powers and Ron Driscoll
