Review roundup, April 20

April 20, 2012

♦ Tom Hoffarth’s latest: Summer of ’68: The Season that Changed Baseball — And America — Forever, by Tim Wendel. Upshot: “Halberstam-esque.” High praise, indeed.

♦ WBEZ, the NPR presence in Chicago, posted this mini-review of 100 Things Cubs Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die.

♦ Similarly, Bronx Baseball Daily posted this review of the Yankees version in the Triumph series.

♦ Billy-ball.com offers this re: Baseball Fantography Upshot: “Don’t judge the book by its contrived title, “BASEBALL FANTOGRAPHY: A Celebration in Snapshots and Stories from the Fans” is a book to own.” (Not exactly sure what the writer means by “contrived title.” What would he suggest instead?)

♦ The Irvine (CA) Entrepreneur published this set of mini-reviews of mostly older titles, including Damn Yankees and Summer of ’68, among others.
