Paging Joe Piscopo

Remember when Piscopo used to channel Frank Sinatra on Saturday Night Live? That’s the first thing that came to mind when I heard “At Fenway,” by Brian Evans.

The fact that there’s actually a commercial promoting this is similarly amusing, as is the fact that the counterman has to identify Jim Rice, the former Red Sox star, as “Mr. Rice,” since there are probably too many people who wouldn’t know who he was otherwise.

Pretty cheesy stuff. Can’t tell if this is serious or tongue-in-cheek. And pardon my ignorance, but is Evans a local celebrity to the Boston region? Because he’s regarded pretty well by both the other performers.

Brian is the opening act for Jay Leno, when Jay headlines in Vegas. He’s a Boston boy, and Red Sox fanatic who wrote this song. Narada Michael Walden produced it, who is best known as the Grammy winning producer of Whitney Houston’s, “The Bodyguard” soundtrack.
