A few last links on Gary Carter

February 21, 2012

Leonard Lopate, left, with Gary Carter in 2008.

NPR’s The Leonard Lopate Show replayed a 2008 interview with the late Hall of Famer, following the release of his book, Still a Kid at Heart: My Life in Baseball and Beyond.

Jonah Keri, author of The Extra 2%: How Wall Street Strategies Took a Major League Baseball Team from Worst to First and currently working on a history of the Montreal Expos, published this obituary on Grantland, as well as another on his own website.

The Montreal Canadiens offered this emotional tribute to Carter during their Feb. 19 game against the NJ Devils.

Montreal is working on plans to honor Carter with a street or public place named for him. Some on Facebook have suggested the Pie IX Metro station, the site of Olympic Stadium, would be an appropriate spot.
