Congrats all around: Perth Heat and Rusty Staub

February 14, 2012

To the Perth Heat, for winning their second straight Australian Baseball League title. Good show, mates.

Nicholas Henning has written a couple of novels about baseball down under in Boomerang Baseball and The American Dream: From Perth to Sacramento.

Congrats also goes to Rusty Staub for his election — along with Doug Melvin and Rheal Cormier — to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. Montreal Gazette writer John Robinson published Rusty Staub of the Expos in 1971 when Staub was a popular member of the team. A copy signed by Staub is currently selling for $150 at Bauman’s Rare Books. I wonder if the price will go up with his induction to the CHoF?

Staub also lent his name to Few and Chosen: Defining Mets Greatness Across the Eras.
